Federal Tax Levy

Have you had your assets seized or received threats by the IRS in order to satisfy a tax debt? If you have, then you are experiencing an IRS tax levy or IRS threats of tax levy. If a tax levy occurs, it can be taken out on any real estate or automobiles that you own. However, a federal tax levy is most often applied toward personal and business bank accounts, wages, and securities. The owner is then banned from accessing these assets because the authority goes straight to the IRS.

How does a tax levy occur?

  • The IRS first sends a notice demanding payment immediately.
  • If there is no response from the taxpayer, then a tax lien is filed against property and then a notice of intent to file a levy is sent to the taxpayer.
  • If the tax debt is not paid in full or payment arrangements are not made, the tax levy begins. As stated before, bank accounts and securities may be affected first. IRS tax levy garnishment is also a possibility.

As you can see, an IRS tax levy is a very aggressive form of collection. Individuals have had their bank accounts emptied of the last few dollars they own in order to satisfy an IRS debt. Don't let this happen to you. Whether it is a federal tax levy or even a property tax levy that you are facing, let us give you a hand.
